Resources For Families

Imagine if all parents had
The information and support they need

Do you ever wonder what your child will be like in the future? We now know that the experiences and opportunities that children have in their earliest years shape the ways they will grow and thrive as they move through school-age and into adulthood. Four aspects of early childhood are especially important to growth and development: health, mental health, early care and education, and parent support.

Parent and Family Support

Parents and family form a child’s first relationships. They are a child’s first teachers and act as role models in how to act and how to experience the world around them. By nurturing and teaching children during their early years, families play an important role in making sure children are ready to learn when they enter school. Children thrive when parents are able to actively promote their positive growth and development. Every parent knows that it’s sometimes difficult to do this important work without help, support, and additional resources.

The Family-Friendly Workplace Toolkit is a free resource guide with the most up-to-date information available about how Colorado employers are supporting workers and their families in all stages of life. The toolkit highlights the public health (and employer) benefits of strong family-friendly workplace policies and practices.

A partnership between EPIC (Executives Partnering to Invest in Children), Essentials for Childhood (Colorado’s Department of Public Health and Environment – CDPHE) and Health Links (Colorado School of Public Health), the toolkit provides evidence-informed best practices and examples of each of the components of family-friendly workplaces, along with local resources for families and employers.
