What We Do

Child Care Resource and Referral– In this program, staff recruit new child care options, coordinate/provide required prelicensing training, gather information from licensed early childhood care and education providers to populate a database used to provide referrals to parents, provide parents with referrals to early childhood care and education options that best suit their families needs, and provide technical assistance and training opportunities to the current early childhood care and education provider community around Colorado licensing rules and regulations.

Incentives and Coaching—In this program, staff provide assistance with development and implementation of quality improvement plans. This includes providing observations using various standardized assessment tools, assistance in using these tools for self-assessments, assisting providers in working in partnership with parents to meet children’s needs, and support and follow up for sites receiving a Colorado Shines Rating. Also provided in this program is coaching and support to assure that practices which promote children's social and emotional competency and prevent challenging behaviors are being used. If a classroom behavior support plan is recommended, our staff support early childhood professionals in participating in creating and implementing it. We also provide assistance with meeting particular care needs of infants and toddlers, consultation around a variety of early childhood topics as requested, and provide quality improvement resources.

Early Learning Development Guidelines (ELDG’s) and Social Emotional Materials—At community events and online we promote the Early Learning Development Guidelines and Social Emotional Development.

Early Childhood Advocacy— Staff attend the annual Speak Up for Kids and are a member of the It’s All About Kids Network/Colorado Children’s Campaign.
